The Urban Media Art Academy launches in Bangkok in April 2017, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Thailand.

The Academy is conceived as a networked initiative that investigates and intermediates What Urban Media Art Can Do – why when where and how – for people, communities, society, our cities and future environments. The Institute acts as a platform for facilitating Programs and Inquiries for knowledge, learning and practice with urban media art. It is based in Berlin but acting through the global network.

The Academy develops on the basis of the handbook What Urban Media Art Can Do – Why When Where & How? (Av Edition, 2016) departing from the research of the Connecting Cities Network of initiated by Susa Pop, facilitated by Public Art Lab, Berlin,  realised with 11 founding members contracted and co-funded by the European Union, Culture Programme 2013-16.
