Sim Zhi Ning Sheryl

Sheryl Sim is currently an Interactive Media and Design student in Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design, and Media.

She has always been curious about the world around her and is constantly wandering and wondering. There is something about the world – its beauty, mysteries, and story – that beckons her. Her art is but a response to them. She hopes that her art will not only share the world’s wonders but also shed light on its predicaments and give voice to the voiceless.

She also wants to tell stories – stories that inspire, stories that make and provoke new stories. She believes in the idea of “sonder” where each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own and she hopes that she can archive these stories through art before they disappear unspoken and untold.

I believe that it is a lot about keeping up with the times. Also, I feel that venturing into the realm of Urban Media Art helps us be constantly updated and refreshed by the new ways of doing and seeing art. It is also about relating to the times and the people of this time, connecting and bringing them together with urban media art, making the unfamiliar familiar. Urban Media Art also presents Singapore with many new opportunities to get local talent out there in the world.
